About the
Task Team
We began this task team in the summer of 2000
as a group of community members from all walks of life gathered together to
promote the Bill and Judith Moyer’s Series called On Our Own Terms. The task force includes clergy, nurses, physicians, Hospice volunteers,
nurse practitioners, American Cancer Society members, community leaders,
social workers, and those who have experienced a death of a loved one.
The task team completed a survey in August
2000. You can review the results on that page. Click:
End-of-Life Survey of 2000. After the series showed on PBS nation wide,
the task team held a town meeting on end of life issues. We then searched
for a solid direction to help our community change the way it thinks about
death, to help our community members prepare for death, either their own or
that of a loved one, and to help them cope with living and with dying.
The task team began the process of developing a
lasting educational series that could be applied toward educating all
age groups from children to the elderly - laypersons to health care
professionals. We realized that often a person's need for particular
information does not coincide with town meetings. We developed the
information into four parts depending on the stage of living. Click:
Topic Outline. This web site provides instant access to the information
depending on the needs of the visitor.
There is a reference page with and resource page for those items used in this
website. Click: Reference Page. We listed the telephone numbers and web page addresses for the
local community resources. To help those living outside our community, we
included a link page to many state and nationwide resources. Click:
Resource Page.
